  • Washroom facilities will be limited during the safari.

Where west meets centre...

Locked in the arms of nature is, this beautiful tiger reserve rich in bio-diversity. Situated between the Bhandara district and Gondia district of Maharashtra, see animals freely roaming in their habitat. The Nagzira Tiger Reserve area encloses five protected areas namely New Nagzira Wildlife Sanctuary, Nagzira Wildlife Sanctuary, Koka Wildlife Sanctuary, Navegaon Wildlife Sanctuary and Navegaon National Park. The Nagzira Wildlife sanctuary is a home to a number of fishes, 166 bird species, 34 mammal species, 36 reptile species and four amphibian species. More than 200 tree species can be found in this forest. The flora of the sanctuary includes Dhavda, Ain, Bija, Tinsa, Garari, Surya, Teak, Tendu and Bamboo. The fauna includes leopards, tigers, panthers, sloth bears, bisons, sambar, civet cats, four headed antelope, jackals, barking deer, jungle cats, blue bulls, hare chital, spotted hyena, mouse deer and a number of species of ants, butterflies and insects. There are many lakes in the region such as Nagzira, Thadezari, and Chirkhamara, which support several varieties of freshwater fish, and attract migratory water birds. Some of the commonly seen birds are Grey Jungle Fowl, woodpeckers, grey headed fish eagle, orioles and the Red Spur Fowl. The Bar-headed Goose migrates from Ladakh and Tibet during the winters to this forest. Apart from birds, Nagzira Tiger Reserve inhabits 49 butterfly species. Common Rose, Common Mormon, Common Sailor, Common Indian, Crow, Lime Butterfly, Black Rajah are a few of the important species amongst them. There are about 36 species of reptiles present in the sanctuary. Indian Rock Pyhton, Checkered Keelback , Dhaman, Russel's Viper, Indian Cobra and Common Monitor are the 6 species of reptiles that have been declared endangered. 
For most part of the year, the temperatures are moderate. The summer temperature may rise to 45 degree centigrade and the winter temperature may minimize down to 6.5 degree centigrade. It is open to visitors from October to June. Due to maximum wind velocity during the rainy season, the sanctuary is kept closed for visitors from June 16 to September 30. But enthusiasts can visit it in any other season, although February to May is considered the best. During these months the flora of the biodiversity is in full bloom and the tourists get to see a variety of species of flowers and plants. 


Nagzira Safari
Day 1: 
  • In the morning, after you reach Nagpur a pick up from Nagpur railway station or airport is arranged by an AC SUV to Nagzira Wildlife Sanctuary reserve to a 3-star hotel. 
  • After reaching the resort freshen up, have breakfast and rest for some time. 
  • At 12:30 pm have lunch and get ready to explore the surrounding areas and nearby attractions 
  • After exploring, get fresh. Have dinner and lights off. 
Day 2: 
  • Wake up early, and freshen up. After the morning tea, leave for the first round of jungle safari from 6:30 am to 10:00 a.m. 
  • After the morning safari enjoys the breakfast spread and rest for a while. 
  • At around 12:30 pm have lunch get ready for the second round of afternoon safari from 3:00 pm to 06:00 p.m.
  • Come back from the safari, rest for a while. Have dinner and go to a good night sleep.
Day 3:
  • Wake up early, and freshen up. After the morning tea, leave for the third and last round of jungle safari from 6:30 am to 10:00 a.m. 
  • Come back have lunch and check out. 
  • A drop back to Nagpur railway station or airport will be arranged. You will be provided with packed dinner as well.

Nagzira wildlife Sanctuary is situated only 22 km. away from Sakoli on the National Highway No. 6 which passes through Sakoli. The sanctuary is situated at the distance of about 60 km from District H. Q. Gondia and 60 km. away from District H.O Bhandara.

Bus : Many buses ply to Nagpur from Mumbai, Pune, Nashik and more. Nearest bus-stand is at Sakoli and Tirora.

Train : A large number of trains halt at Nagpur Railway station
